After its initial success in 2014, Sea You ‘Beach Republic’ continues to sell out each year, drawing ravers from all around the world to its undeniably scenic lakeside location in Tunisee, just outside Freiburg. This year’s edition takes place on 18th + 19th July, with seven stages again featuring some of the scene’s foremost house and techno talents.

The recently announced first line-up features a host of esteemed live acts such as Giorgia Angiuli, Lexy & K-Paul, Paul Kalkbrenner and Reinier Zonneveld, while on a DJ tip, the likes of Boris Brejcha, Claptone, Kid Simius, Kobosil, Marika Rossa, Mausio, Monika Kriuse, Neelix and Younotus are equally likely to attract passionate ravers from across the globe.

Spread over a whopping seven stages and featuring over 100 artists, Sea You Beach Republic will also feature a chillout area, numerous water activities on the lake (incl. free water-skiing and wake-boarding options) as well as a fashion & beauty lounge. What’s more, the beautiful Lake Tunisee (with Germany’s famous Black Forrest in the background) is sure to prove a perfect accompaniment to the top class sounds on offer. Guests are encouraged to forget about their everyday worries and embark on a magical journey; to dance, laugh and cool down alongside thousands of other like-minded music lovers.

With two more line-up announcements due shortly, Sea You Beach’s 2020 edition already looks set to go down a real treat.

EPIZODE, one of the world’s most fascinating music and art festivals, delivered the 4th edition this year – for 11 days the island of Phu Quoc, Sunset Sanato Beach, turned into a magnetic field for electronic music lovers and industry fellows. More than 12000 people from 96 countries gathered for that very special annual meeting, exploring sound and art and more than 130 artists were building up a vibe of international unity. Previously announced ecological initiatives turned out into a strong statement on site. The festival made a big step forward to a consciousness concept thanks to the partnership with BeWater. The biggest plastic waste of any festival (water in plastic bottles) was discarded – we switched to water bottled in aluminum cans. Cup-sharing systems in all the bars meant cups from recyclable material were used, and all the disposable tableware was made from recycled sugarcane. The merchandise shop offered bamboo cups and straws, and affordable pocket ashtrays to be carried out with you and help to strengthen the idea of a community coming together to celebrate the environment while listening to good music! Two art-installations were inspired by the ecological motive too. ‘Leave no trace’ policy made a significant change in people’s mindset – you could simply see and feel it on the clean beach and shared festival environment without random trash. An organized cleaning session in partnership with local communities also helped to maintain the island's economy not only by means of touristic traffic but by thoughtful decisions. The territory of the festival expanded this year and in addition to a new concept market and upgraded foodcourt, we focused on the Temple area, on giving the audience more space to chill, to slow down, to meditate and heal themselves. It went far beyond the scope of the general festival offerings. Technical and creative partnerships were an important part that took the experience of sound and light to a new level this year. A stellar collaboration between Sila Sveta and SETUP, Moscow-based creative studios famous for outstanding project on the edge of mixed-media production, meant an all new re-invention of the Main stage. Simple linear structures empowered by bold light and video content created a massive installation. Dynamic and vivid, visuals merged with the music as if the most lucid dreams became real. It was a vital development as music on the stage goes on for eleven days and always offered an extra-dimension to dive into. Not only did the Main stage have a full-on schedule but all of the four arenas – another remarkable improvement of the program this year is a commitment to a non-stop party-time, special sunset performances and after-party hours delivered at their best. Independent showcases from the USA, Switzerland, Romania, Australia, Russia, Israel, France helped define Epizode’s identity, which is a unique and ambitious one, and is continuing to drive international unity spirit with cultural and musical diversity. There are many reasons behind the scenes that made people feel so special. There was an air of twinkle-in-the-eye nature, building-up during the first days and born out in style on New Years Eve night. It is that kind of night most people actually wait for the whole year and it is a big responsibility to provide people with the right set for this very peculiar dance – but the reward is priceless. The result is a mixing pot of industry titans and emerging acts sourced from all corners of the world with the united purpose of pushing the sounds of the underground to their absolute limit.  Staying true to its nature of finely curated music programming, phase two of SXM's carefully polished lineup includes forward-thinking electronic legend Bonobo, Spanish techno giants Audiofly, renowned house music legend Danny Tenaglia, international tastemaker John Acquaviva, Moroccan ambassador Amine K, Do Not Sit curator Behrouz, and Get Physical founder M.A.N.D.Y. The roster extends further with the addition of Parisian underground mainstay DJ W!LD, legendary progressive icon Hernan Cattaneo, and Cirque Du Soleil founder turned DJ marvel Guy Laliberté. Also gracing the coveted SXM stage will be Life and Death co-founder Thugfucker, French 4/4 kingpin OXIA, one-third of the [a:rpia:r] trio Raresh, Maya Records powerhouse Joeski, Ibiza party mastermind tINI, and live electronic-trio WhoMadeWho.  These acts will be joining an already standout list of performers, featuring leaders from all walks of the international house and techno industry. This melting pot of talent includes the likes of the inimitable Ricardo Villalobos, the spellbinding sonics of Bedouin, Music On! boss Marco Carola, and SXM favorites Chaim, Blond:Ish, Enzo Siragusa, and Sonja Moonear to name a few. The means by which these performances are spread across five days of peaks and valleys remains the true magic of the SXM Festival experience. Each set is thought of as part of an emotional odyssey taking travelers on a rhythmic journey through the natural beauty of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. Attendees may find themselves dancing on the idyllic shores of Happy Bay at sunset, partying at a premiere nightclub until dawn, then being swept away for a Boat Party at or a blissful sunrise soirée at Boho’s Beachclub. The ebb and flow of the event is what retains its uniqueness, with each bespoke performance just a quick trip away from luxury villas and world-class hotels in which to rest for the day ahead. Each aspect of the programming aims to build towards its infamous emotional crescendos like the exclusive clifftop Villa Party and iconic Sunday morning Sunrise over Happy Bay. More info on schedule flow and venues here: https://www.sxmfestival.com/venues Since the devastating impact on the island by a series of 2017 hurricanes, SXM Festival sought to further its devotion to the support of the local people of the island and the protection of the natural resources that make it one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Its famed stages and decor are crafted from natural materials sourced from the island itself, while its world-leading low-energy LED lighting design is powered by solar technology. In partnership with SXM mainstay artist Blond:ish’s organization BYE BYE PLASTIC, the event has committed to the near complete reduction of single use plastics in its bars and use of 100% biodegradable products across all its famed venues. In partnership with the Martinique non-profit organization Les Connections, SXM Festival’s waste management and recycling principles will continue to be a the forefront of the event’s infrastructure in a two-fold process to both its minimize environmental impact and educate fans in the hopes of integrating these principles into the wider, global community. Attendees will also continue to be treated to a convenient official-SXM Festival shuttle system that helps reduce carbon emissions.   Furthering this ethos, fans are encouraged to work alongside SXM artists in a series of activities including mid-event  beach cleanups as well as a pre-event garbage collection for local St Martin residendents. This year round partnership, The Get Up Clean Up! Lead by Mystraw Company and Dauphin Telecom offers local participants a chance to earn free tickets to the event, adding a truly multicultural attendee-base felt in few other global events.  In 2019 organizers, artists, and attendees bound together through the SXM Festival created Two Bunch Palms Foundation to donate school equipment and rebuilt recreation centers on the island. Further resources and involvement were supplied to SXM Doet, the largest volunteer program in Sint Maarten and the Dutch Kingdom, which sees thousands of participants giving  back across the island. This year these efforts will be furthered, offering festival-goers the chance to give back while in the midst of their five day journey throughout this culturally rich destination experience.  While these these cornerstones of showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of the island remain at the forefront of the SXM mantra, attendees will also be treated to an utmost sense of luxury that can be experienced at very few events around the world. VIP packages allow special access to the exclusive clifftop villa party, lounge areas, bars, and other onsite venue amenities. Those seeking a truly premiere journey can secure convenient all-inclusive hotel rooms and a bevy of luxury villa options spread throughout the island. The track instantly captivates with flowing synths and guitars, before bursting into life with its swinging style and punchy drums, then giving way to lead singer Jordan Clarey. Massive hooks fill the choruses, accompanied by the tracks infectious swinging beat, not leaving out Jordan’s backing vocals giving the perception of backing group singing and clicking their fingers in time with the beat. Jordan talks about the inspiration behind "I’ll Be Back": “This is based on the character Kyle Reese coming back in time to protect Sarah Connor from the Terminator. It’s about loving someone despite the space, time or distance between them. It’s still subtle enough to feel like a love song, while also giving props to the characters from the film.” To coincide with the release, the band are heading stateside to perform in the USA and Canada alongside pop-rock juggernauts Set It Off, following on from performances throughout China earlier in November. Legendary comedian and Kimmy K’s new BFF Magda Szubanski (Kath & Kim, Fast Forward, Babe) has teamed up with Will Connolly aka “Eggboy” (anti-racism activist, philanthropist) to tackle the flow on effect that many face outside of the devastating losses of peoples homes. With the fund this dynamic duo have set up, they will be co-ordinating with foundations and charities such as Beyond Blue to make sure this “care chest” goes to the best places, where it is most needed. An agenda of letting people know that long after these fires have burnt out, we will still be here to support those who have suffered…

The Gurdies are coming in hot from the Mornington Peninsula, we can’t stress enough that if yo like the guitar thing, do not miss their brand of scuzzed up garage rock!

Now though this show is technically the Saturday morning, think of it like you’re still out from the night before…

The new Cherry is located at 68 Little Collins Street. It might be the best rock n roll joint in town…

This Sunday January 12th we’re welcoming Melbourne’s legendary guitar virtuoso Mr. Phil Para to Cherry.

Yes, if you’d heard the story Phil has recovered from his quadruple heart by-pass surgery and back tearin’ up stages. Have you joined us for a bevy at the new Cherry (68 Little Collins Street) yet? Phil delivers his unique fusion of blues, jazz and Latin groove influences with the type of sheer showmanship that has found this axeman become true folklore in our town.

Our weekly Cherry Blues is still FREE ENTRY with doors now from 5PM and supervised children are welcome to attend. We’re also offering table seating with a new snacks menu and wine list.

Starcrawler
Monday 13th January, 8pm

Starcrawler (USA) performing live on the Cherry stage!
Support: Smooch
Ticket entitles you to stay and party!

This Friday don’t miss Los Angeles based Starcrawler (USA) and their glammed up, punk’n’roll assault live at Cherry! Lead by the untamable stage presence of vocalist Arrow de Wilde, they’re headed down under on a colossal East Coast run supporting fellow Californian natives The Growlers.

The frequent reporting of their oft-visceral live show (at one South by South West appearance, de Wilde terrorized the room by spitting blood at photographers and slapping punters’ phones from their hands), appearance on Jools Holland and the exciting second album Devour You has us eagerly awaiting their Australian debut.

“Blending the sludgy, doom-laden riffs of Black Sabbath with the urgent pop-punk of The Runaways, the young LA band Starcrawler are a group whose entire DNA seems linked to the 1970’s” – The Guardian.

With admission to any ticketed show in our bandroom you’re welcome to stay until close and party. Cherry is now located at 68 Little Collins Street. It’s probably the best rock&roll joint in town.

The band have only toured the country once in the last 17 years which makes this tour a little extra special for long-time fans of the band. Fans can enjoy an intimate experience with the band, singing their classics ‘Santa Monica’ and ‘Father Of Mine’ during this not to be missed comeback tour.

Unwritten Law return for a killer 2020 tour across the nation. No strangers to Australian soil, the original skate lords from Southern California are pleased to announce they will be running mayhem across a total of 12 stages both in the east and west coast. Fans can look forward to a personal space with the band away from Hotter Than Hell festival crowds, singing along to famous tracks such as 'Seein' Red' and 'Save Me'.  "We’ve been coming to Australia for a long time and we’ve come to think of it as our home away from home.  I think we just get each other.  Every trip over is such a magical thing.  We really pour our hearts and souls into every show and leave it all out there every night.  And that’s exactly what we plan to do.  We’re gonna play some songs we haven’t played in a long time, we’re gonna play the songs we know you want to hear, and you may even hear some of what’s to come." says Unwritten Law's frontman, Scott Russo.
