EPIZODE, one of the world’s most fascinating music and art festivals, delivered the 4th edition this year – for 11 days the island of Phu Quoc, Sunset Sanato Beach, turned into a magnetic field for electronic music lovers and industry fellows. More than 12000 people from 96 countries gathered for that very special annual meeting, exploring sound and art and more than 130 artists were building up a vibe of international unity.
Previously announced ecological initiatives turned out into a strong statement on site. The festival made a big step forward to a consciousness concept thanks to the partnership with BeWater. The biggest plastic waste of any festival (water in plastic bottles) was discarded – we switched to water bottled in aluminum cans. Cup-sharing systems in all the bars meant cups from recyclable material were used, and all the disposable tableware was made from recycled sugarcane. The merchandise shop offered bamboo cups and straws, and affordable pocket ashtrays to be carried out with you and help to strengthen the idea of a community coming together to celebrate the environment while listening to good music! Two art-installations were inspired by the ecological motive too. ‘Leave no trace’ policy made a significant change in people’s mindset – you could simply see and feel it on the clean beach and shared festival environment without random trash. An organized cleaning session in partnership with local communities also helped to maintain the island’s economy not only by means of touristic traffic but by thoughtful decisions.
The territory of the festival expanded this year and in addition to a new concept market and upgraded foodcourt, we focused on the Temple area, on giving the audience more space to chill, to slow down, to meditate and heal themselves. It went far beyond the scope of the general festival offerings.
Technical and creative partnerships were an important part that took the experience of sound and light to a new level this year. A stellar collaboration between Sila Sveta and SETUP, Moscow-based creative studios famous for outstanding project on the edge of mixed-media production, meant an all new re-invention of the Main stage. Simple linear structures empowered by bold light and video content created a massive installation. Dynamic and vivid, visuals merged with the music as if the most lucid dreams became real. It was a vital development as music on the stage goes on for eleven days and always offered an extra-dimension to dive into.
Not only did the Main stage have a full-on schedule but all of the four arenas – another remarkable improvement of the program this year is a commitment to a non-stop party-time, special sunset performances and after-party hours delivered at their best. Independent showcases from the USA, Switzerland, Romania, Australia, Russia, Israel, France helped define Epizode’s identity, which is a unique and ambitious one, and is continuing to drive international unity spirit with cultural and musical diversity.
There are many reasons behind the scenes that made people feel so special. There was an air of twinkle-in-the-eye nature, building-up during the first days and born out in style on New Years Eve night. It is that kind of night most people actually wait for the whole year and it is a big responsibility to provide people with the right set for this very peculiar dance – but the reward is priceless.

SUPPORT FOR PREVIOUS SINGLES ‘BIG WORLD’ & ‘FIND ANOTHER YOU’
“Synth melodies that riddle amongst its funk grooves and hook-y choruses plucked straight out of an old-school electro-pop delight only brought forward into the future”.
– Pilerats (AUS)
“Huge feel good pop vibes. I’ve transported back to a dancefloor circa 2010 and this is getting dropped between La Roux, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, and Art vs Science”.
– Gemma Pike – triple j (AUS)
“Absolute banger, I LOVE this!”.
– Alex Baker – Kerrang Radio (UK)
Following on from the release of their internationally praised singles ‘Big World‘ and ‘Find Another You‘, Melbourne four-piece indie-pop band MOBS have started their new year with another stunningly colourful new single ‘I’ll Be Back‘.
The track instantly captivates with flowing synths and guitars, before bursting into life with its swinging style and punchy drums, then giving way to lead singer Jordan Clarey. Massive hooks fill the choruses, accompanied by the tracks infectious swinging beat, not leaving out Jordan’s backing vocals giving the perception of backing group singing and clicking their fingers in time with the beat.
Jordan talks about the inspiration behind “I’ll Be Back”:
“This is based on the character Kyle Reese coming back in time to protect Sarah Connor from the Terminator. It’s about loving someone despite the space, time or distance between them. It’s still subtle enough to feel like a love song, while also giving props to the characters from the film.”
To coincide with the release, the band are heading stateside to perform in the USA and Canada alongside pop-rock juggernauts Set It Off, following on from performances throughout China earlier in November. This continues on from a furious touring schedule, which has seen them support the likes of The Dangerous Summer (USA) The Maine (USA), Deaf Havana (UK), Never Shout Never (USA) and Stand Atlantic (AUS).
“The nostalgic pop sound that we have created is something that we have been working on for a long time and it’s amazing that we have the opportunity to take these songs overseas and showcase them to people on the other side of the world” mentions bass player Scott MacDougall.
In the coming weeks MOBS will reveal an accompanying music visual for ‘I’ll Be Back’.
‘I’ll Be Back’ is available worldwide now via RUDE RECORDS

The kings of grunge are back, and Everclear are ready to make a comeback across Australia with 11 shows announced for their 2020 tour.
“Australia has always been a very special place for Everclear. We can’t wait to come back, play our music, and reconnect with our Australian fans. They’ve always been so enthusiastic and faithful to us and our music that even though the distance is so far from where we live, every time we come back to Australia it feels like we’re coming home,” says lead singer, Art Alexakis.
The band have only toured the country once in the last 17 years which makes this tour a little extra special for long-time fans of the band. Fans can enjoy an intimate experience with the band, singing their classics ‘Santa Monica’ and ‘Father Of Mine’ during this not to be missed comeback tour.

Unwritten Law return for a killer 2020 tour across the nation. No strangers to Australian soil, the original skate lords from Southern California are pleased to announce they will be running mayhem across a total of 12 stages both in the east and west coast.
Fans can look forward to a personal space with the band away from Hotter Than Hell festival crowds, singing along to famous tracks such as ‘Seein’ Red’ and ‘Save Me’.
“We’ve been coming to Australia for a long time and we’ve come to think of it as our home away from home. I think we just get each other. Every trip over is such a magical thing. We really pour our hearts and souls into every show and leave it all out there every night. And that’s exactly what we plan to do. We’re gonna play some songs we haven’t played in a long time, we’re gonna play the songs we know you want to hear, and you may even hear some of what’s to come.” says Unwritten Law’s frontman, Scott Russo.
With a stacked 12 venues across five states, there is no excuse to miss out on this highly anticipated Unwritten Law comeback tour.
