Spending his time between Geneva and Cannes, the house, which used to belong to his great-grandfather Pablo, is an exceptional place of inspiration for Florian who produces most of his music there. For this occasion only, the room was transformed back to its original state to resemble what it used to look like when Pablo was working there, filled with paintings, sketches, and sculptures. During Florian’s set, artist and graffiti pioneer Cyril Kongo brought a sensational extra dimension to the show by painting several artworks beside him. To make the show even more memorable, Kongo painted a CDJ 3000 donated by Pioneer DJ, creating a one of a kind piece.
“It was such a blessing to be able to serve a good cause and give back to my roots by combining music and art” says Florian.
Both being of Vietnamese origin, the two artists decided to auction all the pieces Cyril created during this special show and to donate all the proceeds to an orphanage in Vietnam. This was made possible in collaboration with Maria Bravo and Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Foundation.

Arts Centre Melbourne is excited to announce that the break-out musical FANGIRLS, from award-winning playwright Yve Blake will make its Melbourne debut at the Playhouse Theatre from 28 April – 9 May as a part of a national tour.
This energetic musical will be showing in Melbourne for the first time following sell-out crowds for Belvoir’s season at the Seymour Centre.
“We’ve been dreaming of coming to Melbourne for years. When we premiered in 2019, some industrious teens started a petition to bring the show to Melbourne and I’m so happy that we can finally deliver on that wish,” says the creator of FANGIRLS – Yve Blake.
“Even though this show is called FANGIRLS, it’s not just about fans or girls. It’s a show for anyone that has felt the sweet torture of a first crush, or who knows what it’s like to be obsessed with something that isn’t ‘cool’.”
The prolonged intermission between shows at the Playhouse Theatre will add an extra element to this performance, mirroring the excitement around the show as Arts Centre Melbourne create offerings for audiences to embrace the arts once again.
“It’s incredible to have FANGIRLS as a part of our re-opening of the Theatres Building at Arts Centre Melbourne. This has been made possible thanks to the generous support of all those who donated to our Recovery Appeal,” says Arts Centre Melbourne’s Creative Producer, Theatre & Contemporary Performance – Daniel Clarke.
FANGIRLS follows the uproarious story of Edna, a plucky misfit scholarship girl who believes that she alone can win the heart of the world’s biggest pop star: Harry. Sure, he has 38 million other fans, but for Edna, that’s merely a hurdle. Because there’s nothing she won’t do to prove to Harry that she’s the one.
With a dazzling cast including AYDAN from The Voice, Danielle Barnes, Chika Ikogwe, Shubshri Kandiah, Ayesha Madon, James Majoos, Karis Oka, Tomáš Kantor and Shannen Alyce Quan, this critically acclaimed show is captivating and will leave you wanting more.
This show is founded in Blake’s fascination for the way that society can see a mob of screaming fans as “embarrassing” if they’re female and at a pop concert, but “passionate” if they’re male and at a footy match. She set out to write the show she wished her 14-year-old self could have seen: a comedy all about the ways that the world tries to convince young women that they’re not as worthy as their brothers.
“The response from audiences so far has been unreal. I’m so shook by all the fan art, the memes, and the crafts! I’ve seen people bring handmade signs like it’s a pop concert, and even make custom jewellery,” says Blake.
“People should see this show because it’s a love letter to the awkward teenagers that we have all been, and also it’s the perfect antidote to 2020. This show was designed to feel and sound like a thrilling pop concert, and after a year of no concerts, it really does hit differently.”
Yve Blake is a decorated performer and playwright, awarded with the Inaugural Rebel Wilson Theatre Maker Scholarship (2016) and has been widely recognised for FANGIRLS with the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Mainstage Musical (2019), Matilda Award for Best Musical or Cabaret (2019) and AWQGI AWARD for Music Theatre (2020).

It was 12 years ago that RocKwiz saluted the Sidney Myer Music Bowl as part of its 50th anniversary celebration but now RocKwiz’s Really Really Good Friday makes its triumphant debut at the iconic venue as part of Live at the Bowl on Friday 2 April.
“We’re all flooded with memories of rock concerts we’ve seen there, but of course inspired by the big show we did there in March 2009; a sweltering night when Melbourne was getting over a hot summer of bushfires. We came together as a big, rowdy family for music, quizzing and pure fun to shake off the sadness of recent events. Sound familiar?” asks co-host Brian Nankervis.
After four years of their hugely popular Good Friday performances at Hamer Hall, co-hosts Brian Nankervis and Julia Zemiro could not be more excited to take the fifth instalment to the Bowl. They will be joined on stage by the beloved RocKwiz Orkestra and The Wolfgramm Sisters.
“To say I have missed performing with my RocKwiz brothers and sisters would be an understatement! I will be holding back tears when I step out on stage to a beautiful audience once again at the magnificent Bowl! Get ready to Rock!” says Zemiro.
Despite the cancellation of last year’s performance due to the pandemic, this highly anticipated Easter weekend staple returns better than ever. With the Bowl’s new COVIDSafe layout of private decks, the venue is perfectly set up for music trivia tragics to gather their brains-trust and enjoy everything they love about pub-quiz trivia in safety.
“Putting on our traditional Easter RocKwiz extravaganza at the Bowl is very exciting – a tonic for the RocKwiz gang to be back there! To have the opportunity to step out from the salubrious and sophisticated Hamer Hall, venture across St Kilda Road, through the gardens, up a hill and into the outdoor wonderland that is the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is a huge thrill!” says Nankervis.
“Come on people, join us in this magnificent space for a very special night. We need this!”
Tickets will go on sale from 11am, Thursday 25 February via liveatthebowl.com.au

Sydney duo Winterbourne are erupting into 2021 with their first venture into the world of cinema, ‘Revolutionary, Film’. The movie, which derives its name from the opening track of the band’s debut album, will premiere in March at three vintage cinemas along the East Coast of Australia. During these premieres, the duo will also make an in-person appearance to chat with the audience and perform new and unheard songs. ‘Revolutionary, Film’ also heralds the arrival of Winterbourne’s first live album, ‘A Brand New November’ which was recorded during the sold out Echo Of Youth national tour and soundtracks the film. The album will be released April 16th, with the first single ‘Steady My Bones’ out today.
Written, directed, edited and produced by the band themselves, ‘Revolutionary, Film’ is a 90 minute manifestation of band-mates James Draper and Jordan Brady’s collective state of mind leading up to, during, and resulting from their debut album release and subsequent sold out show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. Sections of the show are interwoven with a running fictional commentary as the pair make their way from a live performance in Pitt St Mall to The Metro Theatre, grappling with questions of ambition, nostalgia, reflection and of course, revolution, along the way.
WATCH ‘REVOLUTIONARY, FILM’ TRAILER HERE
“We didn’t want to make a live show documentary about ourselves because we might be the only ones who’d watch it,” says James from Winterbourne. “But we’ve always had this idea of drawing a line between Pitt St Mall and the Metro Theatre because they’re on the same street but worlds apart”
The band spent most of 2020 working on the project. With live music coming to a halt last year, ‘Revolutionary, Film’ is a welcome and immersive journey into the world of an Australian band on the rise. The highs of which they say they too often treat with cynicism rather than appreciation.
“It’s impossible to appreciate the moment while you’re in it,” continues Jordan. “We’re constantly annoyed about that. So I guess the film tries to take us back and allows us to look around and figure out what the hell it all means.” |

Sydney’s BOYSCLUB have been announced as one of five winners of triple j unearthed’s Collab Comp, and will be writing a song alongside PNAU and Empire of the Sun songwriter/frontman Nick Littlemore.
On triple j unearthed’s website, Littlemore said of the prospect of working with BOYSCLUB: ‘I’m well keen to make some dirty rock n roll and I’m very interested to see how we can reinvent the sound of rock for 2021. ‘ The announcement was made this morning on triple j radio. If you aren’t familiar with BOYSCLUB yet, wisen up! It’s now 2021 and the patriarchy is cornered, lashing out like a beast with nowhere else to run. It’s time to sound the death knell on misogyny, discrimination and bigotry. But rather than the dreary toll of a bell, we send off the patriarchy with a blast of furious, energised punk rock sent forth from the minds, and amps, of Sydney’s BOYSCLUB! The new single Best For You premiered on triple j’s Home & Hosed with Declan Byrne, with Declan saying that the new single “…hits a little heavier, it has a grungy appeal, somewhere between head-nodding and headbanging, you’re going to be swaying along to it!” and was promptly added to rotation on triple j Unearthed Radio. Armed with an unwavering sense of justice for women, non-binary & men for equality, hard-earned life lessons and the legacy of those to have waved the flag of equality before them, BOYSCLUB have tasked themselves with systematically dismantling the prevailing wisdom; to change perspectives on queer empowerment, speak truth to addiction and amplifying the oft silenced voices of the victims of domestic violence. BOYSCLUB are taking 2021 by the horns, once again lowering their visors to wage a new affront to the way things are – via new single BEST FOR YOU – and tour dates to spread the word. The new single is available at https://gyro.lnk.to/BestForYou BOYSCLUB are on tour now through February and March and are hitting Sydney, Bendigo, Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Canberra and Wollongong – see killtheboysclub.com for ticket details! BOYSCLUB. Forever standing for something more than themselves. BOYSCLUB’s new single BEST FOR YOU is out now at https://gyro.lnk.to/BestForYou |

PEKING DUK
Peking Duk are renowned for giving you high energy dancefloor anthems for the good times. While we have always loved them as a loose-unit electronic act, the moment Adam and Reuben emerged from behind the decks and channelled their antics into the glorious shitstorm of energy that is a Peking Duk live show, they became legend.
JUNGLE GIANTS
With well over 300 million streams worldwide and growing, The Jungle Giants are fast becoming an unstoppable force. Known for delivering explosive high-energy live performances. With headline festival performances under their belt and a rapidly growing international fan base, The Jungle Giants have cemented themselves as one of the biggest independent acts in Australia.
VERA BLUE
The metamorphosis of gifted folk singer/songwriter Celia Pavey into the electro pop powerhouse Vera Blue has been as visually electrifying as it has musically scintillating.
It began with the release of her rapturously received debut album ‘Perennial’. The album saw Vera Blue play 5 completely sold out Australian tours, European/UK and USA dates, and multiple festivals including Lollapalooza and Splendour in the Grass.
THE VERONICAS
Coming back onto everyone’s radars after their song ‘Untouched’ reached new heights as a classic, The Veronicas are riding the wave of a second round of success.
Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, twin girls born on Christmas Day, were teenagers when they moved to LA, signed a record deal with Sire Records and released their first album, The Secret Life Of…. and three top ten singles including the timeless anthem 4Ever.
SAN CISCO
‘Between You And Me’ is the recently released fourth album from the indie trio. It’s an album two years and at least one sadly remembered love affair in the making. Featuring the singles ‘When I Dream’ and ‘Skin’, both triple j Hottest 100 voted songs, the groove-laden ‘Reasons’ and new singles ‘One The Line’ & ‘Messages’, it’s clear ‘Between You and Me’ tells a widescreen story of loss and letting go.
King Stingray
King Stingray are a four piece from Yirrkala, North-East Arnhem Land. Formed by Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu (nephew of the late Dr M Yunupiŋu – Yothu Yindi frontman) and Roy Kellaway (son of Stu Kellaway – Yothu Yindi founding member and bass player), King Stingray blend ancient indigenous melodies with surf, indie and funk influences to create a genre of their own, Yolŋu surf-rock. Their debut single ‘Hey Wanhaka’ has been met with huge success being added to high rotation on triple j.
Rest For The Wicked
With their debut single on the horizon, Rest For The Wicked are one of the most promising acts in Australia. Think the new school genreless vibe of Dominic Fike and Still Woozy, the conceptual visual alternative pop of Gorillaz and Empire of the Sun, the raw indie energy of Glass Animals, Twenty One Pilots and Mac Demarco. Slowthai. Watch this space.
