A Statement from the Organizer
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“We have been receiving an incredible amount of messages and support from all over the world after the Rainbow Disco Club 2020 cancellation announcement and are truly grateful for the support.

All of us are facing difficulties everyday now because of the effect of the Coronavirus. We had been busy trying to set up a crowdfunding and/or an alternative event until a few days ago but the situation surrounding the Coronavirus is changing every hour.

Many clubs in Europe and America have been forced to shut and events to be cancelled, and many borders are being closed and all these artists and promoters are suffering from the damage, losing their work opportunities just like us. At the same time, all the dance music fans are losing their places.

But, we must unite and fight against the unknown virus. Now, it is important to keep distance, avoid crowds and prevent the spread. We must limit our social activities and you and your loved ones must act carefully.

We must keep smiling. This is what we have learned in the last 11 years from you.
Hereby we would like to announce that we made the decision to throw a -hour long
streaming party on Saturday 18th April. This will be a first for us, but we will do what we can to replicate the actual festival in Higashi-Izu.

We hope this will be a special day for you during this long isolation time at home. Many fun merchandise items to enjoy the party at home are coming their way, so please look forward to them. Early-bird tickets are also ready in the hope that you will be counting the days with excitement.

We cannot gather at the same place but we look at this project as a campfire. We surround ourselves with music; we dance, talk, eat, smile well, and love a lot – let’s get warm.”

Location: STOOR
Date: 21 March 2020
Time: 18.30 till 02.00 CET

STOOR lab upgraded with remote controlled streaming studio to share the love of electronic music while implementing social distancing measures.

Last week as events all over the world got cancelled, several Dutch Techno artists joined forces to share the love of music during lockdown. In Rotterdam the former fallout shelter which accommodates Speedy J his STOOR lab and the studios of David Vunk, Stranger and Noneoftheabove was converted into an ad hoc streaming studio. Stay Home Soundsystem was launched and within a day reached thousands of grounded music lovers globally with their first 9 hour broadcast.

This Saturday Part 2 will take place under strictly controlled circumstances, ensuring the safety and health of all participants.

Even though entertainment isn’t a vital necessity of life, we’ll try our best to provide a bit of comfort to everyone in lockdown. Stay safe and party in your pyjamas.

Artists
Animistic Beliefs, mad miran, Noneoftheabove, Robin Kampschoer, Serge, Speedy J, Stranger.

The video production will be in the hands of Karl Klomp, a media artist working as a video designer in theatre, opera and live events. Michiel Gardner, known for his work at Boiler Room TV, Operator and Red Light Radio will be taking care of the streaming technology. Both will be remote controlling their gear from the safety of their home. Artwork has been created by Enchilada’s Jan Willem van den Ban.

Audio Obscura presents sunset livestream sessions to raise funds for World Health Organization

Audio Obscura presents sunset livestream sessions to raise funds for World Health Organization Audio Obscura Sunset – Charity will take place from this Saturday until Tuesday, each day from 05:15 PM – 07:15 PM CET at A’DAM The Loft

by the partae March 21, 2020
written by the partae

With everyone having to stay home for the sake of the health of humanity, Audio Obscura decided to step in to raise money for the WHO and its partners. They are partnering with A’DAM Toren who made sure the beautiful The Loft could be the scene for the special livestream series called “Audio Obscura Sunset – Charity”. By doing this they also give back to the visitors around the world who are faced with canceled shows everywhere. The best part: while enjoying the breathtaking livestream, they can actually contribute to the response to the pandemic that is caused by COVID-19.

With stunning panoramic views of Amsterdam during golden hour in the background, the viewers can donate to The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which is set up by The United Nations Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation to support WHO and its partners who are helping countries to prevent, detect, and manage the most recent coronavirus. Every day a renowned Netherlands based artist will perform from 5:15 PM till 7:15 PM CET to support this good cause.

On this atypical Saturday, the first stream will kick off with the phenomenal Colin Benders who will showcase a hypnotizing live set using his modular synthesizers. The Sunday will be taken over by none other than Joris Voorn, a longtime friend of Audio Obscura and that’s not without reason. On Monday, live act Satori will give us one of his infamous energetic performances. To make the occasion even more special, he will premiere his brand new album. To close this remarkable series off in style on Tuesday, techno giant Reinier Zonneveld will treat the audience to something very special, nothing like he has done before. No hard bass this time around, but an enchanting live performance from this multi talent combining synthesizers, drum computers and a piano. It will be experimental for sure but as always only music he composed himself. We are in for a treat.

With the sets being streamed by NOMOBO and reminiscing the legendary sunset sessions Audio Obscura has thrown in the past, where artists performed covered in a golden hue of sunlight, this live stream series is set to be nothing short of spectacular. So be sure to tune in and support the World Health Organization in these crazy times. Together we can do this.

Please get on board and share the livestream to ensure as many people as possible can watch and donate to WHO.

Bootleg Rascal and their team are sad to announce the postponement of their upcoming East Coast tour, and performances at A Day on the Lawn and Big Pineapple Music Festival, due to recent developments around the COVID-19 pandemic. The duo will reschedule their East Coast capital city shows to mid-late September 2020, while Big Pineapple Music Festival will be moved to Saturday 21 November. While the band is forced off the road, front man Carlos Lara and guitarist Jimmy Young will head back into the studio, to work on their new forthcoming staggered EP titled ‘Collaborations of Very Isolated Delinquents “19’ - inspired by current events and premonitions experienced by Lara in late-2019. The first single ‘We Independent’ is set for release on Friday May 22. Lara explains the motivation behind the project: “While we can’t tour, Jim and myself thought it could be cool to set ourselves a challenge of dropping a new track each month and tie it all into a conceptual EP. The record is set to be heavily influenced by what’s currently happening in the world and some wild dreams I had towards the end of 2019, where the world had been consumed by biological warfare”. On Bootleg Rascal’s rescheduled East Coast capital city tour, opening support act SCABZ will remain on all new dates, while main support Shag Rock can sadly no longer move forward on the tour. Bootleg Rascal will announce a replacement for Shag Rock in the coming weeks. All purchased tickets are valid for the rescheduled dates; however, if punters cannot make it along, information around processing refunds will be made available from each respective ticket selling company. ROCK’N’ROLL RESCHEDULE! ENDLESS BOOGIE DATES AND THE AUSTRALIAN DEBUT OF HOWLIN’ RAIN (FEATURING COMETS ON FIRE’S ETHAN MILLER) MOVED TO OCTOBER/NOVEMBER.

by the partae March 20, 2020
written by the partae
Maybe we were tempting fate with the opening words of our original press release – see below – but the much-anticipated return of Endless Boogie and the Australian debut of Howlin’ Rain will happen, and has now been moved from April to late October / early November. Both bands will be appearing at the rescheduled BOOGIE festival, and at the same East Coast venues they were originally booked into. All existing tickets will be honoured. Updated dates and info below…

Stars have aligned, and East Coast will meet West in a collision of pure, unadulterated, ecstatic rock when Brooklyn-born ENDLESS BOOGIE return to our shores in April with special guests, acclaimed Oakland-formed outfit HOWLIN’ RAIN.

Endless Boogie will be coming for the 4th or 5th time (no one is sure, and, as the saying goes, if you can remember an ENDLESS BOOGIE tour you weren’t really there); HOWLIN’ RAIN, who are the creation of Comets On Fire main man and guitarist Ethan Miller, will be visiting for the first time.

ENDLESS BOOGIE take their name from John Lee Hooker’s 1971 LP, which should give you some idea about their minimalist approach and single-minded drive. Their ethos is written clearly in their name and reflected in their practice; ENDLESS BOOGIE worship the jam. There are no rehearsals, formulas, or setlists to which they cling. Instead, they throw themselves to the bluesy, heavy-psych abyss of beautiful spontaneity and swagger. A beautiful spontaneity that reflects their love of the likes of Can and the Stooges, and a swagger that reflects their love of Australian pioneers like Lobby Loyde and the Coloured Balls, and Sunbury-era Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs.

Formed in 1997 by a group of like-minded Matador Records employees and legendary record dealer/collector Paul “Top Dollar” Major, the band played its first show four years later opening for fellow Matador alumni and Coloured Balls fan Stephen Malkmus of Pavement. They’ve never been in a hurry; their first studio album was 2008’s Focus Level. Their latest album Vibe Killer, released in 2017, is highlighted by “Back in ’74”, in which Major describes a misadventure involving LSD and his first exposure to Kiss at a St Louis kite-flying competition. At the same time Major had his first coffee table book published, Feel The Music: The Psychedelic Worlds Of Paul Major; this guy is very much the guru of sub-underground psychedelia and hard rock arcana. More recently they’ve officially reissued their early collections of rehearsal space jams, entitled Volume I and Volume II, which they self-released in 2005 before their inaugural trip overseas (to play the Slint-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties).

HOWLIN’ RAIN’s arrival will mark the first time that Ethan Miller plays Australia since Comets on Fire blazed a trail across the Southern sky and lit up Meredith with an unforgettable appearance at Golden Plains in 2007. HOWLIN’ RAIN came together in 2004. Initially an attempt to do something more rustic, the group found it hard to tone things down; the result was an electrifying sound that mixed high energy with soulful harmony. Rick Rubin signed them to American Recordings and decided to make the Great 21st Century Rock Album with them. They achieved that – their third album The Russian Wilds is both breathtakingly audacious and accomplished, but the slow, painstaking work with Rubin broke the band, and Miller eventually had to start a-fresh. He also started his own label to release his own music and that of his friends. In addition to the most recent HOWLIN’ RAIN studio album, 2018’s The Alligator Bride and the brand new live album Under the Wheels, Vol.1, Silver Current Records has released material by friends including the Wooden Shjips, the late Neal Casal, Earthless (whose guitarist Isaiah Mitchell was an HR member circa The Russian Wilds), Comets on Fire and Ethan’s other current bands, the speed freaking scuzz punkers Feral Ohms and the Sub Pop-signed pastoral psychedelic ensemble Heron Oblivion.

Silver Current describes HOWLIN’ RAIN’s latest studio album as “indebted to classic rock formations like the Grateful Dead’s Europe ‘72 and Free’s masterpiece of atmospheric, minimalist blues, 1969’s Fire and Water.” Miller references Kerouac: “The guiding principle for The Alligator Bride was to create ‘Neal Cassady Rock’. Which is to say, high energy, good-times adventure music, driving the hippie bus, shirtless and stoned, up for four days straight, and extremely fuzzy around the edges.”

Ocean Alley have announced their 2020 national tour dates have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with all shows rescheduled for February and March 2021.

Originally due to take place from May 1 to June 5 this year, it wasn’t possible to proceed with the tour amid public health concerns and the Federal Government’s ban of mass gatherings indefinitely.

Now kicking off with two hometown shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on February 6 and 7, the tour will then make its way through Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and finish at Melbourne Arena on March 24. Perth’s Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Dulcie will both remain on the tour for all dates as support. By the time these dates come around, it will mark almost three years since Ocean Alley’s last capital city headline run.

The band released a statement on social media, sharing “The reschedule is due to the COVID-19 situation that has developed at home and abroad, and is in line with the restrictions and recommendations put in place by the Australian Government to keep people safe… Thanks for your patience and understanding through what is a difficult time for the wider entertainment industry and everyone around the world. We look forward to finally seeing you again on the road around Australia.”

All tickets that have already been purchased will be valid across the new show dates. Any ticket-holders who are unable to attend the rescheduled dates can safely and securely re-sell their tickets via the Tixel marketplace or obtain a full refund from the point of purchase.

Festival Director Peter Noble OAM declares Bluesfest 2021 is on!   “We will find a way to continue and present in 2021. I am a veteran; having been in this incredible industry since the 60s I have never experienced such a dire situation. As a premier event we need to present another Bluesfest not only for ourselves but also for the entire entertainment industry to see that there will be a brighter day, and that as an industry we will come back from this. We are humbled by the incredible response we have received by the outpouring of love from our ticket-holders, music industry and importantly from our local community.  We are in discussions with all the agents representing the artists who were due to play this Easter on what has been our greatest bill ever. Whilst we currently don’t know ‘who’ all our headliners will be in 2021, we have received feedback from over 30 artists off this year’s bill confirming they are ready to reschedule for 2021. Their level of support and goodwill is inspiring and I foresee a great event to come.   2021 will be the year for everyone who cares about the arts, music and the entire entertainment industry that we all love, to come out and show their support for each other. We call on our industry, the musicians, the agents and the managers to get in touch with us and help us show the solidarity of strength that we have as a combined force. We are all in this together, and together we will go on and get through these troubled times. Since the ban was announced last Sunday we have gone from having a deep case of the blues to presenting the blues for you again in 2021. This much we know.  Time is a healer and one day this will be behind us. It has not been easy and we are still in what is a lengthy process working out the details. Representatives from our insurance companies have advised that our claim is being processed and ticket refunds or the option to roll over to Bluesfest 2021 will be available soon. We will constantly keep our patrons updated in this area and thank them all again for the patience they have shown. In the meantime we wish you all good health and to remain strong and positive in these very trying times. See you at Bluesfest.”                                                                                                          Bluesfest 2021 will be held from 1 - 5 April 2021. Due to the recent developments in the Covid-19 outbreak, the organisers of Meadow have announced the cancellation of Meadow 2020 in order to comply with the orders imposed by the State Government under the State Of Emergency declaration commencing Monday 16 March. Originally scheduled to take place from Friday 27 - Sunday 29 March in Bambra, Victoria with the likes of Angie McMahon, Close Counters, Cool Sounds, Donny Benet, Dyson Stringer Cloher, Egoism, Emily Wurramara, Olympia, Pookie, Rolling Coastal Blackout Fever, Sheer Mag, Sweet Whirl, Youth Group and more, the Meadow team acknowledge it’s the right thing to do in an effort to protect the health and safety of all members of the community. “My partner stuck a post-it note on the mirror next to our shower several weeks back. * Expect problems and eat them for breakfast. It’s the kind of affirmation that makes you smile each morning through adversity. A simple statement that encourages us to push past the roadblocks and hurdles Meadow faces in the weeks leading up to the festival each year. When she put it there, neither of us would ever expect to encounter a problem which we could not control or influence. This is a new reality for us. A problem that we cannot eat for breakfast. Meadow 2020 has been cancelled as a result of COVID-19. We are more than devastated but must respect the decision and direction of The Government and understand it is in the best interest of public health and safety. 2020 has been an emotional rollercoaster that is struggling to find its way back up. Many small businesses in country areas have been battered by the impact of bushfires, a downturn in discretionary spending nationwide and now an insurmountable pandemic. A year of work. All our careful curation and planning to create something that brings joy to so many of our friends, family and punters has now upsettingly come unstuck. All things that go down, must eventually come up. Surely. We watched the resilience of our punters dancing on through three days of unrelenting rainfall during our 2019 festival. It’s our sincere hope that we’re able to embody some of this character over the coming months. If it is possible to weather this storm, we will do everything in our power to return in 2021. To those who have purchased tickets, we will be in touch with more information regarding refunds shortly. Keep an eye out for an email. Please don’t be scared. Fear is not going to change a thing. Wash your hands, and look after yourselves and others. The music will be back before you know it.”  Cameron Wade - Meadow Festival Director.
