In 2018 LIMBS found a home with UNFD ahead of the release of their debut album Father’s Son – a dark and brooding look at a young man’s journey out of religion as he comes to terms with both his upbringing and his own actions. A conceptual album following a young man breaking free from his indoctrinated upbringing, Father’s Son explores the strength in reclaiming your own life.
LIMBS’ live video for their album’s title track, ‘Father’s Son’, was filmed during the band’s 2018 tour with Underoath, Dance Gavin Dance, and Veil Of Maya. Streaming here, the video captures the electricity and raw power of a LIMBS live show – from headbanging to epic stage dives and beyond. Fans have been able to experience it in person as the band has shared the stage over the years alongside the likes of Beartooth, Motionless In White, Sharptooth, Wristmeetrazor, Stick To Your Guns and more.
Last year, LIMBS announced that longtime friend Austin McAuley would be stepping into the role of lead vocalist. McAuley debuted with LIMBS at the end of 2018 while on tour with Currents, giving fans a taste of his energy and passion before bringing it into the studio for new music.
McAuley first appeared on ‘Abandoned‘, a hard-hitting track that originally premiered on Metal Injection, and on vicious follow up single ‘Stare‘.

London based soulful-pop outfit, The King’s Parade have returned with their latest feel good single ‘How Long?‘ and have just dropped a playful and home-brewed music video for the track. Shot in lockdown, and depicting chaos at rehearsal, front-man Olly explains the inspiration behind the visual:
“We had this idea of a rehearsal that’s constantly going wrong, where I desperately try to get things back to normal despite a series of surreal interventions. We filmed it as a one shot, so as well as the action on camera it was absolute carnage behind the scenes, with people running on and off set, building drum kits, taking them away, moving different props into place and switching characters!”
‘How Long?’ it’s the second track to drop from their up-coming debut album, and follows first track ‘Mario‘. Early support for ‘How Long?‘ has come from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music, who described it as “an incredibly accomplished sound worthy of a far wider audience”.
Lyrically, ‘How Long?’ continues where ‘Mario‘ left off, with both tracks exploring feelings of nostalgia. Their latest effort ruefully looks back to better days, with feelings of regret and longing mixed with an underlying optimism. Sonically, this new series of singles (four in total before the album drops) represent a band at the peak of its powers, a close-knit group who have truly found their sound, embracing pop and funk sounds as well as a more soulful approach to their vocals and melodies.
Having established a loyal live fanbase and streams in the 10s of millions across all platforms online (through a series of tours, singles and EPs), news of their debut album is much overdue and highly anticipated. The album, out in December 2020 was recorded by Marco Pasquariello (credits include Coldplay and Snow Patrol) and was produced by Guy Massey (credits include Ed Sheeran, Jack Savoretti and The Libertines).
Their previous video for ‘Mario’ has gained over 100K views so far and has been lauded for its creativity, as the band like so many others, had to create something self-produced during lockdown. With the help of friends and fans from across the globe (spanning Europe, New Zealand, USA, Mexico, Uganda and South Africa), they created something totally joyous and celebratory, fitting for these strange times – watch the official music video for Mario here.
Prior to this, 2019 saw the release of their most recent EP ‘Mad’ which was backed by a sold-out headline European tour across Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the UK. The EP rallied strong tastemaker support from the likes of BBC 6Music, The Independent, Clash, Earmilk and many more. This year, the band utilised lockdown to engage with their fans more than ever before. Olly streamed acoustic #StayAtHome sessions live from his living room every day, for eight weeks straight and they all hosted a The King’s Parade themed quiz on Zoom which featured other artists, including Billy Lockett and Hollie Carmen. They even released #StayAtHome merch featuring fan art of Olly´s live-stream backdrop (his lounge), which sold out… twice!
‘How Long?’ is out now on all digital platforms

What began as simple instrumental demos constructed in Matt Schultz’s home studio were brought to life and elevated by the addition of Kate Pomery’s melodic touch and heartfelt confessional lyrics. Drawing inspiration from DIIV, Jay Som and Soccer Mommy, ‘fomo‘ is the result of the duo honing their sound and hints at their penchant for modern shoegaze and dream pop.
Lyrically, ‘fomo‘ is an examination of the importance placed on trying to avoid the anxiety and pressures of life by taking the time out for yourself to do so; it’s about that night you stay in and have a bath instead.

Bree Tranter and Chris Panousakis wrote, produced and recorded their six track debut EP First Dance which was released in mid-August. For Chris, the past few years have seen him fluctuate between his solo project Timberwolf and time spent on the road as Matt Corby’s guitarist, a welcome overlap with Bree, who is also a longstanding member of the band. Bree’s focus was equally on the return of her band – international indie darlings – The Middle East. Sprawled across the globe, the pair found comfort in slowly assembling First Dance however possible. Sometimes together, often apart, yet always making up for lost time in their home studio on the South Australian coastline.
‘Water The Plants‘ encourages the discussion of how important little wins are, when breaking the cycles of depression. When you are on top of the world, something so small as watering the plants seems almost too easy, but when you’re in a funk – if you’re lucky – that might just be the only thing you accomplish that day and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Blackpool’s very own Boston Manor will be performing a very special live show at their city’s most iconic monument – Blackpool Tower – on 15 October. The performance will be broadcast online across the globe at three different times – 8pm BST, 9pm EDT & 8pm AEST (16 October in Australia) – to accommodate fans worldwide. Tickets are available now.
Having recently released their highly-charged and critically-acclaimed third album GLUE, in the midst of lockdown, this online event will be the first chance to connect with Boston Manor’s new music in a live setting, albeit in a slightly different experience to the usual Boston Manor live show.
Says the band’s vocalist Henry Cox:
“Since Boston Manor formed in 2013 we have never played a hometown show. One of the main issues surrounding having a hometown show was Blackpool being a little off the beaten track – we didn’t know how many of our fans would be able to make it to a show there. When lockdown happened & our headline tour got rescheduled (twice) we decided the perfect way to do a livestream event would be to bring the world our first ever hometown headline show, to play our new album live for the first time & to show our fans where we come from & why Blackpool means so much to us. We will be performing a full set at Blackpool Tower in the iconic Tower Ballroom on Thursday October 15th. The 500 ft landmark is a symbol of Blackpool, something we’ve been staring up at since we were kids, & the ballroom itself is world famous. It’s pretty unbelievable that we’ve been allowed to play here in all honesty. We’ve spent the last few months working on this show & we hope you can join us; it’s something that won’t be repeated.”
Your next chance to see Boston Manor live in the flesh will be at their UK headline tour in March 2021 but for now, grab the popcorn and kick back with what’s sure to be one of the livestreaming highlights of the year.
“If the last year of our lives has been a Black Mirror episode then Boston Manor have provided the soundtrack to it with ‘GLUE’.” – Upset (5*)
“A bold and brazen album that will joyously haunt you.” – The Line of Best Fit (8.5/10)
“An extraordinary, timely record.” – CLASH (9/10)
“This is one hell of an important record.” – Punktastic
“not only do Boston Manor play for salvation, they hit the right notes for unity.” – Gigwise (8/10)

Today, 23-year-old Muslim poet and songwriter Mustafa shares his new single and video, ‘Air Forces’. Built around samples of a Sudanese tribal chant – a nod to his own heritage – while still existing within the framework of contemporary Western music, it’s a further exploration of a style Mustafa describes as “inner city folk music”. The accompanying
‘Air Forces’ follows the global success of ‘Stay Alive,’ Mustafa‘s debut single and video. ‘Stay Alive’ was met with the adoration of fellow artists, critics, and fans, serving as a near-perfect introduction to a vital and unique new voice in music. More recently, Mustafa shared a video directed by Nabil of a performance of a new song ‘Come Back’ alongside James Blake.
Mustafa was moved to release his own music following the loss of close friends to gun violence. Much of his music is addressed to those departed friends and to his Toronto neighborhood, Regent Park; a vehicle to honour and affirm the concerns of his community while providing sonic solace for those looking to make sense of their own loss. The video for ‘Stay Alive’ prominently features footage of Regent Park, one of the first housing projects in North America and one of the biggest redevelopment projects on the continent. Mustafa‘s experience of seeing the blocks, community, and culture that raised him transform into something unrecognizable is a story that is playing out in neighborhoods across the world — the inner city from which his folk songs are born.
Listen to and watch ‘Air Forces’ below, and stay tuned for more from Mustafa soon.

Grammy Award winning Wynonna had shared a stirring cover of the classic John Prine song “Angel From Montgomery” from her upcoming EP Recollections; listen to the track HERE.
“I was sitting in the kitchen when I got the news that John had flown,” Wynonna explained. “I told Cactus I needed to sing ‘Angel From Montgomery’ that night because I needed to honour how much John had meant to me. I learned that song when I was a teenager, and now, forty years later, I’m still singing it, and hopefully passing it on to the next generation who will keep on singing it, too.”
Recollections marks both a literal and a figurative homecoming for Wynonna, who recorded much of the collection while quarantining on her Tennessee farm in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Forced off the road for the first time in years, she found herself reconnecting with her roots as she sang once again for the sheer joy of it, performing a series of loose and lively covers with her husband, former Highway 101 drummer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Cactus Moser.
“I’ve learned a lot being at home these last few months,” Wynonna reflects. “When there’s no touring, no concerts, no band, no lights, no action, all that’s left is you and the song. All that’s left is your gift.”
It was precisely that freedom that led Wynonna to Recollections, a project so spontaneous and organic she didn’t even realise she was making it at the time. “This EP was a labor of love without the labor,” she laughs. “As a songwriter, you can get bogged down in your own craft sometimes, but there’s something so liberating about letting go of all that and just inhabiting someone else’s writing.”
“I feel like I’m right back where I started,” she continued. “Like I’m 18 all over again. When I sing these songs, it feels like I’m coming home.”

“Crocodylus have nailed this one” 5/5 stars – Declan Byrne triple J Home & Hosed
“Social Climber’ is a fun garage-y number that’ll be running around your head all day” – Life Without Andy
“An absolute blast” – AU Review
Sydney’s Crocodylus have dropped a nostalgic new video for their current single “Social Climber”, lifted from their forthcoming Social Climber / Camouflage 7” vinyl, set for release on October 16 via Bargain Bin Records.
The video for “Social Climber” was captured in Ginkin, NSW on a particularly cold day in August. Holed up in the tiny regional town working on their debut album, on the final day of the writing trip it started snowing, so Crocs grabbed their gear, dashed outside and started filming. The video is interspersed with their favourite tour footage collected over the last four years, giving it an air of both nostalgia and hope. The video premiered on triple j Unearthed last night and is essential viewing.
On the video, drummer Mikel Salvador says: “It was snowing, which was super lucky. Always feel like we get really lucky with the weather in our videos, like the sky in “Adrenaline”, or the sunset in “Ghosts”. Jamieson (Kerr – Director/Cinematographer) also used some old lenses from the 60s to shoot it, and it really kinda gives it that old vibe, although to me it looks a lot older than the 60s, feels like we’re in France in 1916 or something. We only had like 20 minutes or snow for that shoot too, so we were hurrying all over the place, same with the shots of us playing our instruments, it’s kinda hard to tell but it was full-on raining during that part and all our nice gear got soaked!
“The flashbacks in the video harken back to old times, it wasn’t a conscious decision to look back to pre-COVID days in the music scene, Jamieson has been working on this video for a year or so, gathering footage and all that. He’s been filming and hanging out with us for almost four years now and has gotten a lot of footage and special moments that we’ve all shared together. The current state of the music scene and the world is a fitting context for these scenes however it was not intended. It’s a lovely feeling watching that old footage and coming to terms with the current situation, but also getting excited for when we can do it all again.”
Recorded right before Sydney went into lockdown earlier this year, the double A-Side 7″ features soon-to-be-released “Camouflage”, boasting a classic Crocs feel, and current single “Social Climber”, which was written four years ago and reveals a different side to the Northern Beaches trio.
A jangly garage rock anthem-in-waiting, “Social Climber” is the band’s most poignant song yet and was embraced upon its release earlier this month. Premiering on triple j’s Home & Hosed, “Social Climber” has landed a spot on triple j Unearthed and Edge Radio rotation, and is currently among the top 10 most played on Three D Radio. “Social Climber” was also earmarked as Track of the Day on the AU Review, one of Life Without Andy’s Five Fresh Tracks and Something You Said’s Top 10 Tunes of the Week.

Where are you currently based?
I’m from Sydney’s Northern Beaches! I have lived here my whole life.
What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been?
My Covid experience was confusing and frustrating at times as I’m sure it has been for most people but I was also very blessed that my girlfriend moved in with me just before it all went crazy. We got a lot of time to hang out, relax and get a lot of song writing done.
How did you first start playing music?
I started playing piano in primary school. After a few years, I stopped and then ultimately picked up guitar instead. In high school my mates and I used to steal the guitars from the music room and jam in the park across the road. That was where I really found my passion for music.
Your new single ‘Trophy’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
My song writing never really feels influenced by anyone as I usually let my mind go blank and just see what comes out. The melodies that my vocals found were mostly just me dancing with the instrumental and the lyrics came from somewhere deep in my subconscious. The project I’m currently working on focusses on themes of ambition, hunger and pride, so to me Trophy feels like the track that best embodies the project as a whole.
How did you go about writing Trophy?
I had spent the last couple of weeks writing, recording, sending emails, finalising features and filming videos when I woke up to the realisation that I was finally at the point in my career that I had been dreaming of. I finally have business to attend to at all times and people who are waiting to hear what I create. This song was me allowing myself to be proud of that while still being aware of how much work I still have to do.
Where and when did you record/produce and who did you work with?
I recorded this track with Espa at his studio in Five Dock. My homie Ollie Roland mixed it for me in one massive 10 hour session. I drove to his house at 8pm and told him I needed this track to be perfect. I ended up driving home at 6am in the morning feeling very accomplished but mostly exhausted.
Where can we listen/buy?
Trophy is on every major streaming service! If you wanted to buy the song on Itunes or whatever people do these days that would be great too! The best way to support me is by joining up as a member on my website lanstanmusic.com
What do you like to do away from music?
Not much. If I’m not listening to or creating music, I’m sorting things out on the business end.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Recently, I’ve been loving watching The Kid Laroi’s run unfold. His album was as good as I could’ve hoped for and has already made a massive shift in the way Australian hip-hop is perceived.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2020 going into 2021?
Just to keep dropping music! I spent the first half of the year organising a massive run for the back end. Now I’m working to make sure there’s a new song out every few weeks.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Bacon Egg Roll! I just have to try and not eat one every day. My favourite place to hang out is the studio. When the vibes are good in there, nothing beats it.

Today Death Bells announce their new album New Signs of Life and share its title-track, a grandiose statement, influenced by the theme song of HBO’s classic television program Six Feet Under. The album is due 25th September via Dais Records, pre-order here: https://n-s-o-l.com/
The LA-via-Australia duo deliver a shopping list of personal neuroses charged with wry optimism in ‘New Signs of Life‘, dressing it with jagged guitars, brass, and percussion that provides a deliberate pace for Death Bell’s new chapter. As method gives way to melody, ‘New Signs of Life’ exudes an urgent hope laced with drive and verve
“We started writing ‘New Signs of Life’ in Calgary whilst on tour around this time last year. More than anything, the song is about resilience in the face of change. It’s a very deliberate statement and sets the tone for what’s to come musically from us,” the band explain.
Death Bells is the longtime musical collaboration between Will Canning and Remy Veselis. Formed in 2015 during their late adolescent years in Sydney, Australia, the act has proven to be a mainstay in the alternative underground musical landscape both in their homeland and overseas during their five-year history. Blurring the lines of post-punk and garage rock, Death Bells has morphed and transformed as the two members have grown up throughout their late teenage years living together into early adulthood. With Canning’s distinctive baritone and the kinetic collection of reverb-drenched leads by Veselis being a constant during their musical output, the two made the permanent move 7,000 miles away to Los Angeles, California in 2018 where the current incarnation of Death Bells has blossomed.
Following the releases of their debut E.P, much-loved first album, and seven-inch single on Funeral Party Records and their 2019 single on Metropolitan Indian, Death Bells have joined the Dais Records family for their highly anticipated sophomore album New Signs of Life. Three years in the making, the release sees the act embrace their diverse tastes to deliver unforgettable hooks and more expansive sounds across its nine graceful songs.
Engineered and mixed under the attentive eye of Colin Knight at Paradise Studios throughout mid-to-late 2019, New Signs of Life is the band’s most complete work to date. Along with classic Death Bells brooding romanticism, the themes of the record divulge personal insight into their move across the world and both the strained and new relationships that have materialized throughout their existence. Slated for release on September 25th, New Signs of Life is as advertised – it is the career-defining new chapter to commence the new decade.

At only 21 years of age, Sydney’s Lanstan is consistently pushing himself toward wider praise as he weaves a wide range of hip-hop influences with introspective and self-aware songwriting. Today, he unveils his latest project, the bold and ambitious ‘Trophy’.
Following on from ‘Blueprint’ earlier this year, Lanstan has kept the same energy when it comes to his new single: he is an artist who knows what he wants and he’s undeterred when it comes to his strive for success. Making his debut back in 2017 with viral hit ‘Garn Servo’, Lanstan moved quickly to keep the momentum growing, fleshing out his body of work into 2019 with the release of ‘Dream State’ (produced by Kuren) and ‘Go To Sleep’. While the vibe of each song differs, what remains the same is Lanstan’s dynamism and enthusiasm for the craft. And it’s the same with ‘Trophy’. “I usually begin writing any song with one standalone melody. I feel like within any instrumental there is only one perfect melody and my first task is always to find it. Once I’ve found it, the rest of the song seems to build itself naturally around it. With ‘Trophy’ I heard the melody instantly and sang it out loud during my first listen of the beat. The entrancingly rhythmic flute and guitars seemed to tell a story of pain and struggle, but at the same time felt victorious.” Lanstan
Throughout his burgeoning career, Lanstan has been open about his journey in exploring different sounds and establishing an identity on track that sets him apart. With ‘Trophy’, he’s introducing himself to newcomers and showing his longtime fans the type of artist he’s flourishing into as 2020 rolls on out. PRAISE FOR LANSTAN
“Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, 21 year old Lanstan is one of Australian hip-hop’s brightest up and comers.” “The melodies in this are hard to deny, it feels bold without being too egotistical…” “Lanstan has continued to build his brand and loyal following through conceptually immersive projects.” ‘Trophy’ is released Friday, September 18th. |
