COSMO’S MIDNIGHT & RUEL – ‘DOWN FOR YOU’
OUT NOW
Today, Australia’s Cosmo’s Midnight and Ruel reveal the official video for their latest collaborative track “Down For You”, out via Sony Music (Australia), RCA Records (USA) and Black Butter Records (UK). Having drip-fed individual versions of the clip throughout the week, the trio of pop & electronic heroes now come full circle sharing a unified visual to bring their collaboration to life.
Across two simultaneous shots, Cosmo’s Midnight and Ruel each weave their way through the colour-glazed maze of costumes, masks and wild guests at the same quintessential house party. Directed and filmed by Ruel’s resident creative Grey Ghost from the perspective of each individuals’ adventures, Cosmo’s Midnight are seen stirring trouble and performing switcheroos, while Ruel navigates the dizzying scenes solo in his token space suit, dodging the fallout of the twins’ mischief along the way. Amidst squabbles, a live band, a police raid, apparent cameos by each act and a presiding go-with-the-flow mood, the visuals give a glimpse into the three personalities that forged the original single.
“I wanted to play with the collaboration between Ruel and Cosmo’s Midnight in a unique way that allows fans of both artists to enter into each others’ worlds. Both film clips are seamless one shot videos from start to finish and follow through many rooms and spaces in the one property: my own home. We rehearsed with Ruel and Cosmo’s Midnight a million times before launching into the real takes with 60 extras all dressed in crazy costumes. We shot both videos in 3 hours and we were shitting ourselves before every take as there were SO MANY things that could go wrong even if it was a slight mistake. BUT thank the lawd we got there and it worked!” Grey Ghost
“Down For You” arrived earlier this year as an opus of the forward-thinking abilities that have propelled both Australian acts into the spotlight, with Ruel’s alluring pull amplified by Cosmo’s Midnight’s playful production and signature sonic prowess. The track sees a perfect unification of their diverse talents, effortlessly moving between genres and delivering moments the world can’t peel their eyes from. Reaching 6 million global streams online in just 2 months after receiving strong playlist support right off the bat, the infectious pop serenade is an example of the impact a collaboration of it’s kind can have in uniting two globally-reaching audiences.
2019 saw another huge year for Cosmo’s Midnight, peaking into new directions for the twins with the effervescent and groove-heavy sounds of singles “C.U.D.I (Can U Dig It)”, “Have It All” feat. Age.Sex.Location and “It’s Love” feat. Matthew Young. The duo kept busy on the stage playing Splendour in the Grass, Australia-wide festival tours St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Listen Out, selling out headline shows across the US and Asia, and performing to major sold out venues on a national tour. In 2018, the brothers cemented their reputation at the pinnacle of Australian electronic-pop with their debut, triple j Feature Album ‘What Comes Next’, which featured the now gold-certified favourites “History”, “Talk To Me” and “Get To Know”. Ruel has quickly risen as a pop phenomenon since breakout single “Dazed & Confused”, which earned him a 2018 ARIA title as Best Breakthrough Artist and over 100 million streams on Spotify alongside fellow favourite, “Younger”. Since, he has released his 2019 EP Free Time (now reaching over 128 million Spotify streams), achieved platinum-status for three singles including most recent hit “Painkiller”, performed across St. Jerome’s Laneway tour, sold-out Sydney Opera House shows and international tours, and has been announced to play his debut set at Splendour in the Grass 2020.
With another monumental year on the cards for both Cosmo’s Midnight and Ruel, check out the new chapter in their delectable partnership with the new videos for “Down For You” now.

Title: Sexy
Label: Arkade
Release date: March 20, 2020
Kaskade turns up the proverbial heat several notches with his latest release “Sexy,” a real club banger from his upcoming “REDUX 004” EP. Diverting from his more melodic sounds, the icon leans into a more tech-house influence with bouncy, driving basslines and a dirty drop that will set dance floors on fire. “Sexy” incorporates some fun expected touches, such as the catchy vocal riff and piano interlude. It’s no coincidence that the Redux 004 EP has only four tracks, each designed for its own audience. Be prepared for an experience like no other as Kaskade immerses you in the deep, groovy core of dance music. Read on below to hear what Kaskade has to say about “Sexy“:
“If there is such thing as a peak time REDUX banger, it would be my new song, “Sexy.” As the thought of REDUX has matured, so has the music that I make for it. I think about how each song will fit into a set, how it will vibe with the crowd. ‘Sexy‘ is a result of that progression. Those who might not understand what I’m doing with REDUX will still be waiting for the drop, but the ones who know… will REALLY feel it when this one slaps.” – Kaskade
As a household name in electronic music for nearly two decades, Kaskade needs no introduction. His list of achievements is a mile long: 11 studio albums, 7 GRAMMY nominations, the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the first DJ to ever secure a Las Vegas residency, and the first electronic artist to headline Coachella. Less tangible but even more important has been his influence on dance music tastes and culture for generations of listeners. Often Kaskade is one of the artists who introduced now-veteran listeners to the genre, and such fans are usually fans for life. In 2019, he worked with multi-award winner Meghan Trainor on “With You” and Gorgon City on “Go Slow,” among solo releases, such as “My Light,” “Come On,” and official remixes for the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, and Gwen Stefani earlier. Kaskade continues what has become a nostalgic tradition for many dance music veterans and a cherished experience for new listeners. Stay tuned for more news from Kaskade in 2020.

This week, Juno Mamba (real name Vinci Andanar) dropped a jaw-droppingly good live performance of ‘Slow Light’ filmed in an old warehouse. The video was directed by ARIA-nominated director Sanjay De Silva who last year won the J Award for Australian Music Video of the Year (Sampa The Great’s ‘Final Form’).
2019 saw Juno Mamba explode onto the scene with debut single ‘Flicker’, followed by his emotionally charged track and video ‘Blossom’. These deeply moving compositions (and the recent addition of ‘Slow Light’) explore the depths of human emotion, while the Light Echoes EP serves to examine the world; past, present and future. Over the course of four delicious tracks and two remixes, Juno Mamba poses the questions; where do we fit in? And how can we contribute positively to this world in what we do, and inevitably leave behind?
Juno Mamba’s intrinsic ability to create compositions that bend the very edges of your mind is something that is as clear as day, with ‘Flicker’ and ‘Blossom’ achieving widespread acclaim from around the globe. Praise and support have flooded in from the likes of The Ransom Note, ADSR Collective, Our Culture Mag, Stereofox, KALTBLUT, with tracks getting airtime on BBC Radio 1 and US college radio. Both tracks were also added to a stack of streaming playlists including Spotify’s Top-Shelf Electronic, Apple Music’s Global Dance (US, UK, AUS, MX, FR) and Amazon Music’s global playlist Progressive House Now.
Juno Mamba’s releases have also seen DJ support from the likes of The Drifter, Jacques Renault, Maxxi Soundsystem, Tensnake, Dayne S, Just Kiddin, Lane 8 and Doctor Dru amongst others. The EP features official remixes from Canada-via-Berlin producer Nathan Micay (LuckyMe/Whities) and London based producer TSHA (Counter Records).
Juno Mamba recently wrapped two hugely successful headline shows, playing to full rooms in Sydney and Melbourne. He was set to announce larger shows for the coming months but has resigned to spending his self-isolation period working on new music and expanding his live show so that he can deliver an even bigger Juno Mamba experience when the time is right.
The ambiguity can seem vast or obscured, but the feeling is with the listener. If it’s new or old, the beginning or the end, let Light Echoes remind us to embrace life’s endless journey.
Stay tuned and stay safe.
Bootleg Rascal and their team are sad to announce the postponement of their upcoming East Coast tour, and performances at A Day on the Lawn and Big Pineapple Music Festival, due to recent developments around the COVID-19 pandemic.
The duo will reschedule their East Coast capital city shows to mid-late September 2020, while Big Pineapple Music Festival will be moved to Saturday 21 November.
While the band is forced off the road, front man Carlos Lara and guitarist Jimmy Young will head back into the studio, to work on their new forthcoming staggered EP titled ‘Collaborations of Very Isolated Delinquents “19’ – inspired by current events and premonitions experienced by Lara in late-2019.
The first single ‘We Independent’ is set for release on Friday May 22.
Lara explains the motivation behind the project:
“While we can’t tour, Jim and myself thought it could be cool to set ourselves a challenge of dropping a new track each month and tie it all into a conceptual EP. The record is set to be heavily influenced by what’s currently happening in the world and some wild dreams I had towards the end of 2019, where the world had been consumed by biological warfare”.
On Bootleg Rascal’s rescheduled East Coast capital city tour, opening support act SCABZ will remain on all new dates, while main support Shag Rock can sadly no longer move forward on the tour. Bootleg Rascal will announce a replacement for Shag Rock in the coming weeks.
All purchased tickets are valid for the rescheduled dates; however, if punters cannot make it along, information around processing refunds will be made available from each respective ticket selling company.
All tickets purchased for Big Pineapple Music Festival are valid for the new date, however refunds are also available for those who cannot attend. Ticket holders will be able to apply for a refund through Moshtix.
A Day on the Lawn have yet to advise a replacement date, but for now, all ticket holders will receive a refund from Oztix.
‘We Independent’ is available worldwide on Friday May 22

Inspired by his own experiences with mental health, singer/songwriter/producer Slinky dives into deep ideas and darker sounds with new single ‘Crazy’.
Recorded and produced in his bedroom in Sydney, Australia and released on his own record label Slinky Sounds, “Crazy” explores themes of anxiety, depression and alienation in modern society. Slinky’s insight and wordplay used in the lyrics “nihilist fortress, paranoia portrait” and “rainbow acid rain pouring out my brain” showcase his individuality as a writer. Combined with his earworm melodies, Slinky creates depth in the often shallow format of pop songs.
“Mental health is an important subject matter,” says Slinky. “It can be extremely hard to communicate with others when you’re dealing with mental health problems. I felt that writing a song conveying what I’ve experienced may help people who have been through something similar. The song carries a positive message – you’re never alone when dealing with mental health issues because they’re universal.”
Slinky’s voice moves from silky smooth to emotionally gritty as soaring synths, R&B grooves and psychedelic guitars create an extraordinary soundscape; a mash-up he confidently owns. Mixed by Jackson Barclay (Vera Blue, Timberwolf) “Crazy” is a soul infused synth rock banger with psychedelic overtones, taking influences from Tame Impala, SZA, Arctic Monkeys and D’Angelo, as well as Bowie and Prince for good measure.
After a busy 2019 playing solo shows throughout Europe and supporting Aussie legends 1927 in Australia, Slinky is back with his best work yet, with more to come throughout 2020.
